Psalm 23- Part#6 “Keep on Moving & Live”(Sunday service)
1The Lord is my shepherd, I shall lack nothing. 2He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake, 4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rid and your staff, they comfort me. 5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name sake
Today’s sheep/shepherd background: Sheep are animals of habit they keep doing the same thing over and over again. They walk the same paths. They eat in the same grass in the same place until it’s gone. If there is no shepherd to lead them to new places they can totally destroy the landscape. There are large areas of the earth that have been turned into desert because of over grazing of sheep. Over grazing not only ruins the land but also promotes parasites & sickness in the sheep. The successful Shepherd keeps the sheep on the move. Rotating the land.
- The greatest single way for the Shepherd to keep his sheep healthy is to keep them moving to fresh pastures.
- Whenever the Shepherd opens a gate into a fresh pasture the sheep are filled with excitement. Humans and spiritual life is much the same.
Mark 8:34
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me - Following Jesus the Good
Shepherd needs 5 new attitudes:- Instead of loving myself most I am willing to love Jesus & others more than myself.
- Instead of being like everyone else, I am willing to let God set me apart from the group for his purposes.
- Instead of insisting on my rights I am willing to give up my rights for the good of others. He who has no sense of self importance can not be easily offended or deflated.
- Instead of finding fault with life and always asking "Why?" I am willing to accept every circumstance of life with an attitude of thanksgiving.
- Instead of pushing "my way", learn to cooperate with God’s way. Simply do what God asks me to do.
